My name is Maria Etheridge and I used to sign my work under my maiden name of Volschenk, thus certain pieces still feature that name. However, now I use a straightforward Etheridge. I now sign my work with a type of symbol, incorporating
ME
My work brings me joy and, in my opinion, it is the most important aspect of making art. If one makes art for any other reason, often joy gets left behind. When I paint, time becomes immaterial as I enter that state of being where the mind becomes tranquil and all else fades into the background.
That’s bliss.
I have worked in a variety of mediums all the way from graphite, watercolour, pastel, acrylic to oils. These days I’m concentrating on pen and ink work, incorporating doodles and mandala-type designs, and I’m fast becoming addicted!
And as time goes on, we discover new things! I have just started learning about print making and it’s fascinating. I never knew there were so many different ways of printing. I will investigate this more in the future.
I have no formal education in art although I have taken several courses over the years, the longest lasting three years with Elli Lestas here in Cyprus, where I live.
I am a dedicated meditator and subscribe to the seven levels of wisdom, seven levels of spirituality and last but not least, the seven energy centres in the body.
It is my pleasure to introduce you to some of my work. If you would like to know more about my art and me, please use the Contact us form. I’m also on Facebook as well as Instagram.
